In addition to looking and functioning like a natural tooth, a single dental implant replaces a single tooth without sacrificing the health of neighboring teeth. A crown (cap), which is made to look like a natural tooth, is attached to the implant and fills the space left in the mouth by the missing tooth. For this procedure to work, there must be enough bone in the jaw. The bone has to be strong enough to hold and support the implant. If there is not enough bone, it may need to be added with a procedure called bone augmentation. During the procedure of Single-tooth dental implant surgery natural teeth and supporting tissues near where the implant will be placed must be in good health. Single tooth dental implants surgery works well and provides the benefit of looking like natural teeth. In some cases, single tooth dental implants implant will not be placed straight, but will be inserted on an angle in the bone because of the amount of bone that you have and the amount of bone that is needed to place the implant properly. The Sonic Tooth Brush Reviewed – Electric Toothbrush Tips

The Sonic Tooth Brush Reviewed – Electric Toothbrush Tips

If you’ve been considering an electric toothbrush, you’ve probably looked at various brands for the Sonicare Elite Toothbrush sometimes referred to as the Sonic Tooth Brush or Sonic Care Tooth Brush. Yet, the price can be a turnoff.

As someone who has had a history of cavities, root canals and periodontal disease, it has been very helpful in controlling my dental problems. However if you have a good family history of dental checkups it may not be a necessity. I am relieved that my checkups are much shorter since using the sonic tooth brush and I find that the build up of plaque is less. It will not replace flossing and I have found using the original dental tape by Glide helpful as it is thicker than some of the thinner floss on the market now.

The Sonicare Elite is a new kid on the block and it isn’t always easy to know the difference between the various models such as the 7300. 7500 and 7800 toothbrushes. The 7800 allows you to change the pre-programmed 2 minute brushing time to 2 1/2 minutes which may be useful for some. It also comes with a wall mount kit. In addition there is a dual speed control . The 7500 doesn’t have the timer change option and the 7300 does not have the above features but is a fine toothbrush.

Because I travel frequently I am pleased that the battery lasts longer than original model because I don’t like to travel with a charger. I find it will last around two weeks. I also like that there is a slimmer head and that the angled brush enables me to get comfortably to the back teeth. Most people neglect the molar areas but this is where many have problems with pockets due to inadequate cleaning techniques. It is also important to replace the head every six months and I find that after six months the cleanings are not as good if you do not.

My only criticism is that if you don’t unscrew and clean out the brush of the sonic tooth brush it will get dirty on the inside. In terms of bacteria I think that is important to do and it does not seem as watertight as it could be. However, this inconvenience far outweights the benefits as I’ve always dreaded my dental cleanings and if I can prevent future root canals or cavities it is a great financial savings.

Dentist Tooth Whitening And Home-Based Systems

Dentist Tooth Whitening And Home-Based Systems

Many people are concerned with the difference between dentist tooth whitening and home-based methods. Which one is more effective? This article will shed light on the differences and will tell you whether you’re better off with a trip to the dentist or buying an over-the-counter tooth whitening product for home use.

It’s not unusual for people concerned with their personal image to be equally concerned about their welfare when it comes to personal treatments of any kind. For example, there’s the question of the difference between dentist tooth whitening procedures and home-based tooth whitening. If you can whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home, why bother with a dentist? Conversely, one may ask, “Why risk pursuing tooth whitening at home when you can get safe and professional tooth whitening results with a dentist?”

Dentist Tooth Whitening – Definitions

It’s perfectly normal to be wary of a home-based product that claims to be just as effective as its professional industry counterpart. In some cases, tooth whitening products that claim to be ‘just as good’ or even better than dentist tooth whitening are not exactly true. But by and large, most over-the-counter or online tooth whitening systems are effective and can produce satisfactory results.

It’s really all a matter of procedure and need. Going to the dentist will provide you with professional care and a faster whitening process, certainly two things that matter when it comes to health care and modern day schedules.

Home tooth whitening, however, allows you to have total control over the application process as well as flexibility when it comes to scheduling the applications.

Let’s consider how dentist tooth whitening procedures and home-based whitening systems work, as well as examine the pros and cons of each system.

Dentist Tooth Whitening – How It Works

Apart from the obvious requirement of scheduling an appointment with your dentist and undergoing treatments at his clinic, there are other procedures that cannot be replicated elsewhere. A typical procedure is as follows: before employing a whitening solution on your teeth, a dentist will often clean your teeth first as well as fill cavities.

Once he is satisfied as to the condition of your teeth, he will then proceed to apply a tooth whitening gel on your gums to protect them from the treatment.

Once the gel is in place, the dentist will apply a high concentration of tooth whitening solution on your teeth, as well as a special light to speed up the bleaching process. A dentist tooth whitening procedure will all take place in one visit.

Dentist Tooth Whitening – Pros

The biggest advantage of pursuing dentist tooth whitening is that it’s quick and guaranteed to be professionally done. As previously mentioned, these two factors are perhaps the most important considerations for many people. What could be better than to see the immediate effect of a professional tooth whitening treatment? Plus nothing beats the confidence of a trained and experienced dentist handling your teeth.

Dentist Tooth Whitening – Cons

The main disadvantage of going to the dentist is the cost. Most dentist tooth whitening procedures will set you back at least 0 per session and can run into the thousands at some places. Many people simply cannot afford to spend that kind of money on tooth whitening, no matter how badly they may need it.

Home-Based Tooth Whitening – How It Works

There are various home-based tooth whitening systems in circulation. Products vary from teeth whitening strips to whitening toothpastes to whitening gels and special tooth whitening trays that are fitted onto one’s teeth.

When it comes to the latter, there are plenty of ‘one size fits all’ tooth whitening trays in the market but the best ones are really those that are customized. Here’s why: customized trays offer a better fit to your own set of teeth, which means the gel for tooth whitening is applied evenly over all your teeth. Custom trays also prevent leakage of the gel, which may harm your gums and of course cause wastage of the gel.

Home-Based Tooth Whitening – Pros

A home-based tooth bleaching system is less expensive than dentist tooth whitening. You can save hundreds of dollars by opting to whiten your teeth yourself. You are also free to employ the tooth whitening kit according to your own schedule. This is good if you are a very busy person and have little time to spare for an afternoon at your dentist.

Home-Based Tooth Whitening – Cons

You must be competent and able to carefully follow instructions. You must also be dedicated to the task. Home teeth whitening is an extended process that can last beyond two weeks compared to dentist tooth whitening which can amount to a single visit. If you are not committed or unable to sustain a proper schedule, the process will not be as effective or may not work at all.

The Bottom Line

What becomes most obvious when reviewing the pros and cons of both modes of treatment is that it is largely a matter of cost and time flexibility. Here’s a good tooth whitening tip: if you can afford dentist tooth whitening (and can’t be bothered to try home-based products) a trip to the dentist may be your best option.

If dentist tooth whitening is not within your budget (and if you’re comfortable with home-based dental products) then the do-it-yourself route may be more suited to you.

What’s important to remember is that there really is no superior method of teeth whitening. Home-based teeth whitening products contain less amounts of carbamide peroxide than the solutions used by dentists. This doesn’t mean they are less effective – it just takes longer to see the results.

This is an important difference between dentist tooth whitening treatments and doing it yourself at home. It’s not a matter of which one is best because both routes are effective. It’s basically a matter of flexibility.

Lesser Known Facts About Tooth Whitening

These days it’s hard to know what’s natural and what’s fake! And those gleaming, white smiles that you see in magazines and through the media are no different. Be assured, most people who are in front of cameras, or in a job that requires face to face contact have had, or are thinking of having, their teeth aesthetics improved by tooth whitening.

About 1.7 billion Americans have improved their smile by using denture cosmetics or tooth whitening products. Unlike many other cosmetic surgery procedures, the tooth whitening procedure is not only inexpensive but it can be quickly achieved (depending on how discolored the teeth are). And the end result not only improves your smile but it can have the effect of making you look younger. You can see why this cosmetic industry has been quickly gaining in popularity over the last few years!

Why is it that our teeth change in appearance? Some people genetically have a yellow-tinge to the teeth. Others have found their teeth becoming more yellowish as they grow older. Often this is due to our dietary intake. Those cups of coffee and tea, that glass of wine, and those cigarettes are the major players in staining the teeth. Not many people are willing to radically change their diet just to prevent the discoloration of teeth. How much easier is it to just get the tooth whitening procedure done!

Sometimes, teeth are unsuitable to have the bleaching procedure and the dentist may advise dental crowns or porcelain veneers. This may be the case for badly chipped, damaged, or stained teeth. Some dentists also include the use of tooth whitener light activation as an addition to the bleaching process of tooth whitening.

So, how do you go about whitening your teeth? Bleaching teeth depends on two factors: the concentration of peroxide in the whitener, and the amount of time this whitener is in contact with the teeth.

There are quite a few tooth whitening options available. You may decide to have your dentist perform the bleaching procedure or you may go for one of the at-home products. The tray-based whitening method, when a plastic tray fits over the mouth for a few hours each day, has become the most popular at-home kit. Manufacturers who have earned the American Dental Association seal of approval are kits that you can be assured are safe, quality products. Most over-the-counter products haven’t yet earned the ADA’s approval. However, your dentist may use a generic product that they have researched and found to be as satisfactory.

Gleaming white teeth comes at a price. The two main down-sides, hot and cold sensitivity and gum irritation, have affected a low percentage of uses. It has been found that enamel erosion is so small, that drinking soft drinks and fruit juices is comparable to the damage caused.

However, tooth whitening products that use a high concentration of peroxide, an acidic whitener or an acidic pre-rinse can cause severe damage to the teeth. It all comes down to knowing your product. 10% peroxide whiteners have been found to be safe to use with little side effects.

It is still unknown if tooth whiteners cause cancer but there are some who believe so as the free-radicals can be affected during the process.

Of course, these tooth whitening treatments do not last forever. After 2 to 3 years you will probably have to re-do the treatment. Research has shown, though, that most people felt their teeth never regressed to the original discoloration.

So, the procedure of tooth whitening is a simple yet effective way to improve your smile, feel more confident, and possibly the end result may enhance your life opportunities!

Summary:

A gleaming smile may enhance your opportunities in life and give you more confidence, but is there a price to pay for getting a tooth whitening job done and if so, is it worth it?

Tooth Whitening Product Review – Find the One That’s Right for You

Tooth whitening continues to be a growth market, as we age and are teeth need to restore to their bright and clean youthful appearance. The market for tooth whiteners has actually grown 25% a year and is now worth over $600 million! The reason for this is that as we age our teeth naturally becomes stained and yellowed from use.

A quick tooth whitening product review will show that there are three basic types of teeth whitening methods.

The first, and most expensive, and arguably the most effective is a visit to the professional dental practice for laser or specialized teeth bleaching procedure. The cost of these dental procedures is much higher than any do it yourself option. Still, you can be assured that you will receive not only a brighter whiter smile, but also good dental care. You should always consider having your teeth examined before starting any tooth whitening treatments. The reason for this is that the chemicals used to bleached tooth enamel can be painful, if used on the decayed or damage teeth

If you’re interested in doing it at home however, there are many products on the market that do an effective job with most stains and yellowing. Most reputable tooth whitening product reviews suggest that home teeth whitening kits are a good way to get a bright and white smile and restore your teeth to their youthful beauty. Many of the different tooth whitening products available come with a long list of testimonials offered by satisfied customers.

Although you cannot fully trust testimonials, the fact that many people have written in is an indication of customer satisfaction. Remember doing tooth whitening at home and involves more time and patience than at the dentist office. So as you go through tooth whitening product reviews, remember that there’s a trade-off between speed and cost. If you want fast, the professional tooth whitening offerings can dramatically whiten your teeth in only one visit. Home tooth whitening products regardless of the review will take at least one week and probably two to achieve similar results.

Evaluating the Evaluations

A tooth whitening product review should provide basic information on what the consumer should consider.

Things like:

Product ingredients: Care should be taken when you consider any teeth whitening system. Many kits seem to offer much more whitening gel and others. The reason for this may be that they’ve simply added more fillers to give the appearance of additional gel. These fillers only mean that you need more product to do the same amount of cleaning and whitening. It also means a bigger mess when doing a treatment.

Whitening gel strength: Many products claim that they have extra strength whitening gel. Although true, you must remember that the stronger the active whitening compound, the more aggressive it will be on your teeth. This means that although the product may whiten faster, you run the risk of your teeth becoming sensitive to temperature and damage to your gums.

Customer Service: the difference between dealing with a good company and a bad company becomes evident when something goes wrong. Big companies are interested in staying in contact with their customers and taking care of them within reason. Although many people today have abused the definition of customer service, most online businesses continue to be interested in you as a long-term customer. Any review should consider the ability of a consumer to connect with the company

Finally, there’s a price and value. There’s always a trade-off between speed and cost. Teeth whiteners are available in all prices in the market and only each of us as consumers can decide, which is the right mix of benefits and cost So no matter what tooth whitening product you select, it must the your needs. All the ratings in the world cannot make a good product fit your lifestyle or your ability to follow through with the directions

Tooth Whitening Gel vs. Laser Whitening

Have you heard about the latest thing in teeth whitening? Everybody today is looking for a quick and easy way to whiten their teeth. A brighter smile can help you look friendlier, healthier, younger and more attractive. And whiter teeth can do wonders for your self-esteem, especially if you’ve struggled in the past with stains and discolorations. More and more products are now available to help you achieve whiter teeth. In the latest innovation, dentists are now able to offer tooth whitening treatments using special lights and lasers. These cutting-edge methods can provide dramatic results that last up to a year or even longer. The question is, are these new treatments right for you?

Teeth whitening toothpaste has been around for a long time. Toothpaste is never been able to do more than polish surface stains. In order to actually remove stains and discolorations, it was necessary to create something that actually penetrated the enamel of your teeth. Truly effective teeth whitening became possible with the introduction of tooth whitening gel. These gels contained peroxide, which removes stains and whitens teeth through the process of oxidation.

In the beginning, teeth whitening gel treatments were only available from your dentist. However, recent years have seen the release of new tooth whitening gel products that can be purchased by the average consumer over-the-counter. Although these teeth whitening gels were less concentrated than the treatments provided by a dentist, they were effective and offered everyone the opportunity to obtain whiter teeth at a much lower cost.

Most kinds of tooth whitening gel are designed to be brushed on your teeth twice a day. The complete treatment usually takes about two weeks. Tooth whitening gel has proven very effective against yellow stains and is moderately effective in removing brown stains. The results you achieve from over-the-counter teeth whitening gel can last up to four months.

Tooth whitening strips are also available for purchase over the counter. The strips offer an alternate way to apply teeth whitening gel. Each strip is infused with tooth whitening gel. You place the strips on your teeth and allow them to remain for a short period of time, usually about 30 minutes. Again, the total treatment usually takes about two weeks and effectively whitens your teeth for about four months.

Some of the best teeth whitening gel treatments are available from your dentist. A visit with your dentist usually begins with a consultation about your particular situation and the probable cause of any stains or discoloration. Once your dentist determines that you’re a good candidate for success with tooth whitening, he may suggest an in-home treatment that includes regular office visits. Your dentist will construct a custom tray based on an impression of your teeth. You will then fill each tray with a special teeth whitening gel (usually more concentrated than what you can buy in a store). You will wear the gel-filled trays a little each day for a few weeks. This treatment will provide gradual whitening at a relatively low cost. But it will require a few extra visits to the dentist’s office to make sure everything is going as expected.

Another treatment your dentist may suggest involves the use of special lights or lasers. This technique of tooth whitening is performed in the dentist’s office. After providing some protection for your gums and soft tissues of your mouth, the dentist will apply teeth whitening gel to your teeth. Then, a special light or laser light is used to activate crystals in the gel. This process can achieve a whiteness that’s three to eight shades lighter than your original color. All of this can be accomplished in one visit. However, the procedure is quite expensive and the change in your teeth will be immediate and very noticeable.

Tooth whitening gel is not for everyone. You could experience sore gums and sensitive teeth, although these are usually temporary symptoms. You may not have known this, but even the best teeth whitening gel is not effective for about one out of every five people.

One final note: when you’re searching for the best tooth whitening gel, you might be surprised to learn that no over-the-counter bleaching products are endorsed by the American Dental Association (ADA). But a lack of endorsement does not necessarily mean the products are unsafe. ADA acceptance is a voluntary program, so even if there’s no seal, most teeth whitening gel products are generally considered safe if used as directed. But for the greatest safety and predictability of results, you might want to start with a visit to your dentist.
