3 Essential Tips to Help You Find the Best Dentist

3 Essential Tips to Help You Find the Best Dentist

Like any other kind of treatment, dental or orthodontic treatment needs to have well-experienced specialists who can serve and assist patients with their needs. There are 3 things that a person should consider if he or she wants a dentist who will be able to do the best job possible throughout the treatment:

First tip is that you should know what to look for a dentist – this should be done even before an emergency happens; there are different things that you have to consider when it comes to finding the best dentist, such as location, professional qualifications, personal comfort, cost and emergency care. It is very important to choose a dentist that will be located near your place or location. Through this, it will be easier to go to the clinic as well as to schedule a consistent visit with your orthodontist.

It is also important to consider the cost of the treatment; try to ask first if there are different types of payment that are accepted by the clinic – either plans, credit cards, etc. Insurance should also be considered so that you will be able to know if you can use the insurance that you have. It is also helpful if you will estimate the costs of regular procedures so that you will be able to have an idea if you can save money.

Next will be about the relationship between the patient and the dentist – this is very important since you will be consulting with the orthodontist every now and then. It is very significant to have a comfortable relationship with your dentist so that it will be easy for you to ask questions regarding your treatments. It will not be hard for a patient to tell and express whatever that he/she feels about anything that concerns this orthodontic cure.

Professional qualifications are another factor to consider – you have to know the training as well as the guidance of this dentist’s clinic. It is noteworthy to ask different things first about the policies or guidelines when it comes to different aspects of orthodontic treatment – this is to ensure the patient’s safety.

When it comes to emergencies, one should always remember that a dentist must be easy to reach and accessible at any time. We never know when an urgent situation will will happen so it is best to have a contact number with the orthodontist.

Second tip, is about how to find a dentist through asking some people you know. It is very helpful if you will ask opinions from some family members or friends because they will be able to give you information about their dentists or someone they know. You can also ask your previous dentist or even a doctor since they may know someone that they can recommend to you. Calling some hospitals, insurance company (dental), dental association or even a dental school will also help you a lot. They have information about some reliable and well-qualified dentists in your area.

Third and last tip is taking dental schools into consideration – you will be able to search for highly-qualified dentists through the schools were they took up their trainings. These schools from different states can provide you an idea of who is the best in this practice.

Four Tips For Finding The Perfect San Jose Dentist

Four Tips For Finding The Perfect San Jose Dentist

Finding a new dentist can be difficult. Some people scan a list of dentists approved by their dental insurance company, while others simply open the phone book and choose the nearest dental office. While both of these methods will find you a dentist, they may not find the best dentist for you. If you take the time to do a little investigation, you can rest assured you have found the best San Jose dentist for both you and your family. After all, you are creating a long-term relationship when choosing a dentist to provide your dental care for the future.

Look For Offices With More Than One Dentist

If you choose an office with only one dentist, you may have a problem getting an appointment with a San Jose DDS when you need one. Additionally, an office with more dentists means an office with more experience. This makes it less probable that you will have to go elsewhere because you have a dental problem that one dentist cannot fix.

Look For Offices That Do More Than One Type Of Dentistry

Choose dental offices that do more than clean teeth. If you select a dental office that specializes in all types of dentistry, you will never have to go elsewhere for a crown, cap, filling, implant, or even cosmetic dentistry. When you have a relationship with a dental office, you will feel more comfortable in requesting cosmetic dental treatments, like tooth whitening.

When visiting a San Jose DDS for the first time, you will receive a comprehensive dental examination. Your dentist will check the health of your teeth during your dental exam and will also take x-rays, review your dental history, and ask about your interest in cosmetic dental procedures.

A San Jose dentist can provide various cosmetic dental procedures, including making removable partials and dentures, fitting sports mouth guards, filling cavities with a material matching your tooth color, bleaching your teeth in the office or providing you with an at-home bleaching system, making bite guards if you grind your teeth, fitting you with veneers, crowns, or implants to replace missing teeth, or even give you a much-needed root canal.

Look For Convenience And Ease of Access

A San Jose dentist will not be able to help you if the hours of business are inconvenient or if you cannot ever get an appointment. Many San Jose DDS offices provide online appointment scheduling where you can request an appointment any time. This is incredibly convenient for busy people who do not have the time in their day to call and wait on hold just to schedule an appointment.

Look For Educational Background And Professional Associations

Do not feel uncomfortable about asking for the educational background of a San Jose DDS. Additionally, ask if your dentist is a member of any professional dental associations as this shows an interest in continuing education and staying up to date on new dental technology and techniques.

These tips should help you choose the San Jose dentist that can meet all of your dental needs. Finding the best dentist for you will ensure you develop a lasting relationship and receive complete dental care that keeps your teeth healthy for a lifetime.

Tips for Combating Bad Breath

Tips for Combating Bad Breath

There are many things that can contribute to bad breath, formally known as halitosis. The most common contributor is poor oral hygiene. Many people have never learned good oral hygiene techniques. This is a daily habit that should have been adapted at the age of 3! There is no place in our society for those who don’t brush your teeth. Once this daily maintenance is out of the way it is then time to consider other alternatives for battling bad breath, to include washes, mints, and sprays.

Millions of individuals suffer with embarrassing bad breath. In spite of this, bad breath can be virtually wiped out with proper understanding and proper dental care! Halitosis usually starts from one of two sources: certain foods we eat or bacteria in our mouths that feed on left over food. There are a lot of bacteria in the mouth and it smells bad. Our mouths are warm and wet therefore a very attractive home for bacteria to grow. There are certain foods that we eat (such as garlic and cabbage), which contain sulfur compounds. When these compounds are released they cause bad breath fairly quickly have the foods have been digested. The sulfur compounds are then taken from the digestive system into the bloodstream and carried to the lungs. Once here they are emitted by the lungs into the air that we exhale, thus giving us halitosis!

A major advancement in the treatment of halitosis was the finding that odor-causing bacteria actually reside on the tongue. As much as 50% of the bacteria located in the mouth can be found here! Think of the tongue as a plush velvet carpet in which bacteria can escape when it sees the toothbrush or dental floss. There are a lot of countries that use an instrument called a tongue scraper to clean the tongue. This device is used to gently clean the tongue to eliminate bacteria. This very simple procedure can greatly improve the smell of your breath by scraping that whitish-yellow coating off your tongue.

People often tackle chronic bad breath using mints, sprays and more often….mouthwash. Recent studies have shown that these alternatives temporarily mask the odor of bad breath. Each of these “breath improvers” work in their own special way, and have both positive and negative aspects. Mints are generally easy to use, discreet, and work about as well as anything… depending on the brand you buy. Sprays typically come in tiny little aerosol cans, and are sprayed directly into the mouth when needed. Using a mouthwash daily can also help fight cavities, gingivitis, tartar buildup on your teeth.

Most mouthwashes, however, contain alcohol which can actually make the situation worse by drying out the mouth, creating a more hospitable environment for odor causing bacteria. A new breed of mouthwashes containing chlorine dioxide are very effective at combating bad breath. These mouthwashes do not mask bad breath odor like conventional mouth washes. Mouth wash is more of a preventative tool than a regular solution for oral hygiene upkeep.

By far the best solution for bad breath (halitosis) is proper and daily dental hygiene. If your not able to brush after every meal then try brushing at least twice a day with a toothpaste that contains fluoride. Brushing using an up-and-down motion instead of a rather than brushing from side-to-side. Also, using an angled toothbrush is preferred as it can be hard to reach those back teeth. Your ultimate goal when brushing and flossing is to (1) remove much of the bacteria in the mouth, (2) remove the layer of plaque, food debris, and dead cells and finally (3) to eliminate the leftover food particles which bacteria use to create odor.

Orthodontic Marketing – 10 Important Tips in Designing a Professional Looking Website

Orthodontic Marketing – 10 Important Tips in Designing a Professional Looking Website

Your website is where your business resides online and the hub of your Internet orthodontic marketing campaign. It is the virtual representation of who you are and what you are all about. Always incorporate good design principles to ensure your website reaches out to the maximum number of new patients and engages as many people as possible. When you are promoting your orthodontic treatment and services online, people cannot see you physically like in your office. People do judge you by your cover. This is where a good website design comes in.
In any professional practice, dentists and doctors spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on office design, decorating, marketing materials, and customer service. Convenient locations are chosen and appropriate signs displayed so patients have little if any difficulty finding your office? Your office is neat, clean, your staff emits a professional air and everyone is dressed accordingly. The entire presentation is a marketing strategy to show patients you care about quality and are someone they can trust to provide expert orthodontic treatment and care.
Simply stated… First Impressions Matter
The same is true with your website. If your website is old and outdated, looks like you hired your next door neighbor to set it up, difficult to navigate, or worse yet… you don’t have one at all, you are literally shouting to online visitors looking for you… you are not professional and you don’t provide quality care.
If you have a professional looking website layout, branded with your message, you are giving visitors a positive perception. You have given meticulous attention to every detail of your business and you care about professionalism. You are organized and focused on them.
As you grow your practice in today’s tech savvy society, your website, along with your business cards, letterheads, and promotional materials, become the face of your business. Every marketing tool, both online and offline, has its place and matters. Attention should be paid to every aspect of your website. Make sure it performs optimally to serve its purpose… attracting and engaging patients to contact your office for a new patient exam.
In today’s ADHD society, do not give visitors a reason to click on the “back” button! Time is precious to visitors… get to the point quickly and without fluff. Statistics show:
• You have less than 8 second to engage a visitor once they click on your site
• On average, a visitor reads only 2.5 pages on your site
• If a page has more than 500 words and not neatly organized, most of the content will go unread
• If your site is difficult to navigate, they will click out immediately
Here are ten important rules of thumb to make sure your dental website marketing performs well:
1. Do not use splash or flash only into pages
Splash pages are the first pages you see when you arrive at a website. They normally have beautiful imagery with words like “welcome” or “click here to enter”. They are pictures with no real purpose other than to entertain. Visitors are not on your site to be entertained, they are there for content rich information. If they want entertainment, they will go to YouTube.
2. Have a simple and clear navigation
Provide simple and straightforward navigational menu even a young child will know how to use it. Stay away from complicated flash based menus or multi-tiered dropdown menus. If your visitors don’t know how to navigate, they will leave your site. Design your site for an Internet challenged newbie. Keep it easy and simple.
3. Allow users to always know where they are on your site
When visitors are deeply engrossed in browsing your site, make sure they know which part of the site they are in at that moment. This way, they will be able to browse relevant information or navigate to any section of the site easily. Don’t confuse your visitors because confusion means “abandon ship”!
4. Write the content on a 5th grade level
Make the content easy to read for all ages and educational levels. If they don’t understand what is being said, they will click out. Dentist website marketing is provided to inform and impress visitors on a basic level. It’s all about them, not you. Don’t speak at them on your level….speak to them on theirs.
5. Avoid using music on your site
If your visitor is going to stay a long time on your site reading content, make sure they’re not annoyed by music looping on and on. If you insist on adding audio, make sure they have some control over it, volume or muting controls work fine. Music also slows the page loading. If your pages load slowly, users will leave. The number one page people leave is the home page. The #1 reason why… loading time. Remember, going to your competition is only 1 click away and it could cost you thousands of dollars.
6. Reduce the number of images on your website
They make your site load slowly and often, many are unnecessary. If you think every image is essential on your site, make sure they are optimized correctly for quick loading.
7. Keep your text paragraphs at a reasonable length
Online reading of text is different than reading the printed word. The brain processes the information differently when read off a computer. If a paragraph is too long, split it into smaller separate paragraphs or bullet point the content for easy reading. A block of text that is too large will deter visitors from reading your content. They will either move on or click out.
8. Make sure your website complies to web standards
Go to www.w3.org and make sure your website is cross-browser compatible. If your website looks great in Internet Explorer but doesn’t work properly in Firefox and Opera, you will lose out on prospective new patients. With all the problems with Microsoft, Firefox and Opera browsers are becoming more and more popular every day.
9. Extra large/small text size
There is more to web design than graphics. User accessibility and comfort is a big part of it also. Design the text to be legible and correctly sized. This enables your visitors to read it without straining their eyes. No matter how good the content of your website or your sales copy is, if it’s difficult to read, you won’t be receiving new patient calls. A size 11 or 12 font in arial, verdana, or trebuchet ms works best.
10. Text and background page color
On a computer, some colors are more difficult to read than others. Studies report black text on a white background is the easiest to read. White text on a black background, although it looks nice, causes eye strain and is difficult to read. A light background with dark colored text is always your best option.
As a business owner, it is your job is to make sure your website does what it’s meant to do effectively. Even though you are not a web designer it is your marketing responsibility to ensure your website does what it is suppose to… ngage and direct new patients to contact your office for a new patient exam. Don’t let minor mistakes in design stop your site from performing at its highest level.
On the other hand, I also suggest you listen to the recommendations of your web designer. I often find many website designs are not user friendly because business owners want it to look good and insist upon their own specific design ideas. Web designers are in business to please, just like you are, even if means sacrificing the effectiveness of the site. The customer is always right, even if they don’t know what they are doing. Consider these recommendations and evaluate your web site yourself, from a visitor point of view. If your website needs updating or changes, contact your webmaster and talk it over. Your practice growth depends on it.

Teeth Whitening: 5 Tips to Get Rid of Long and Muddly Teeth Whitening Procedures?

Teeth Whitening: 5 Tips to Get Rid of Long and Muddly Teeth Whitening Procedures?

There are a large number of options available for home teeth whitening. This is to allow you to whiten your teeth in a short span of time. One is bound to get muddled with so many options in the surroundings. In order to take you out of this dilemma, we will take you through the best options available, so that you can decide which of the following options can be used in a smooth and fast way.

Dentists

The very first option that comes into your mind is a dentist when you think of ways to whiten your teeth. Let us determine the feasibility of this option. Your dentist will normally apply a peroxide solution (typically in gel form), for approximately 15 minutes. Thereafter, he’ll clean the area to check the progress. In most cases, patients have to undergo a 15 minute session, 3 to 4 times a month, to achieve the desired result. If the stains are stubborn, you may have to schedule a return visit, in order for your dentist to finish the job. In a nutshell, going to dentist for teeth whitening, is not a good option as it makes you spend a lot of time and money.

Take Home Kits

The second option is a take-home kit, which you can get from your dentist. You dentist, on checking your teeth and gums, prescribes a take-home kit through which, you can keep stains and bacterial pigments off your teeth. Keeping stains away from your teeth, implies bringing back strength and luster to your teeth. The kit is customized by your dentist to suit your needs in a better way. The peroxide solution in the kit is less potent than the concentration used during an in-office method. Its application takes a very long period of time, thereby, making it a not-so-sought-after option.

Natural Teeth Whitening products

Many options are available at your home to whiten your teeth in a natural way. Some of these teeth whitening home remedies are unquestionably dangerous for your teeth, while others may be worth your time and money. Lemon juice, Strawberries, Crunchy Vegetables, Wood Ash, Baking Soda and peroxide, are a few options that you can make use off, for naturally whitening your teeth. Although these options do not cost you much or you have to pay negligible amount to use the options, you cannot predict the exact amount of time that it would take for these options to whiten your teeth up to your expectations.

Cleansing Gels

Cleansing Gel is the next option on our list. Gels contain whitening agents, which are also known as oxidizing agents. Hydrogen peroxide (content of most of the Gels), when used as a means of cleaning your teeth of stains and bacterial pigments, helps you lighten the hue of the teeth stain. This process of whitening teeth takes a very long period of time to show its effect on your teeth. At the same time, there is no surety that your teeth would be cleansed in the most appropriate manner. Numerous cases have come up, wherein individuals have complained of going through a dismal experience while trying to whiten teeth using gels.

Cleansing Strips

Next on the list comes Cleansing Strips. A strip uses a plastic brace that is filled with a liquid adhesive, which is further filled into the hilt and then inserted through top of the tooth. Afterwords, the brace needs to be placed on top of your tooth for hours. Long and muddily procedures used while using strips to whiten teeth make it an undesirable option.

Cleansing Swab

Cleansing swabs contain the properties of the best Teeth Whitening product. Along with the Cleansing swabs, you would also get a jar of cleansing powder. The application procedure is very easy to understand and simple to execute. Each morning, after you brush your teeth with a paste and toothbrush, simply pick a swab, snap it in two equal halves and rub it over your stained tooth. In a matter of seconds, your tooth would be sparkling like new. Besides making your teeth glitter, cleansing swabs save you a lot of your time and money. Nowadays, you also get swabs free of charge. There is a limited time free trial offer which I used and I benefited a lot from it in a big way.

How to Choose an Orthodontist — 5 Simple Tips to Get the Top Orthodontics Treatment

Your smile is important â?? itâ??s one of the first things people notice about you. But is your smile less than perfect? Do you have crooked or crowded teeth or an irregular bite pattern?  Or perhaps youâ??ve been diagnosed with a TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder.

Read on to learn how to choose an orthodontist. Here are 5 simple tips to get the top orthodontics treatment that fits your individual situation.

Orthodontic treatment is typically a long-term commitment â?? and a costly one. Youâ??ll be spending a lot of time with your orthodontist, so itâ??s imperative you make the right choice in choosing a top quality orthodontist and avoid costly do-overs.

Tip #1: Your orthodontic treatment should be done by an orthodontist. Any dentist can apply braces, but an orthodontist has not only gone to dental school, he has also gone for at least another 2 years to acquire additional skills, training and clinical experience in the specialized field of orthodontics.

Tip #2: Verify your prospective orthodontistâ??s credentials. Is he licensed by the American Association of Orthodontists? AAO members are screened to make sure they are well qualified and must follow high ethical standards.

Tip #3:  Find out how long your potential orthodontist has been in practice. A well-established practice means a lot of successful outcomes and satisfied patients.

Tip #4:  Your orthodontist should be current on the latest options and techniques. Does he keep up with the current research and treatment techniques? There are both tried-and-true techniques and many new ones:  invisible or colored braces, as well as alternatives to braces, such as porcelain veneers.

Tip #5:  Check out your potential orthodontistâ??s office. The offices and exam rooms should be clean and organized. Is the equipment well maintained and up-to-date? Does he use new appliances for each patient or does he cut corners by recycling ones removed from previous patients?

Your general dentist might suggest a particular orthodontist he has worked with in the past. While his recommendation is a valuable one, you neednâ??t limit yourself to one choice. You should consult 2 or 3 potential orthodontists. Not only is this is an excellent way to get a second opinion, it gives you a chance to ask to see before-and-after photos of successful outcomes.

A top-notch online dental referral service can give you a list of orthodontists who practice in your local area. Make sure you choose one that pre-screens the professionals they list, so you can easily check their credentials, number of years in practice and educational backgrounds. Good referral services also have before-and-after photos of outcomes and testimonials from happy patients who have successfully completed their orthodontic treatments.

The typical orthodontic treatment requires a long-term commitment, so itâ??s important you know how to choose an orthodontist who is professional, well-qualified and who will meet your individual needs and give you the service you deserve. There are many factors to consider in how to choose an orthodontist. But if you keep in mind these 5 simple tips to get the top orthodontics treatment, youâ??ll have made an informed decision and have a successful outcome with your treatment.

The Sonic Tooth Brush Reviewed – Electric Toothbrush Tips

The Sonic Tooth Brush Reviewed – Electric Toothbrush Tips

If you’ve been considering an electric toothbrush, you’ve probably looked at various brands for the Sonicare Elite Toothbrush sometimes referred to as the Sonic Tooth Brush or Sonic Care Tooth Brush. Yet, the price can be a turnoff.

As someone who has had a history of cavities, root canals and periodontal disease, it has been very helpful in controlling my dental problems. However if you have a good family history of dental checkups it may not be a necessity. I am relieved that my checkups are much shorter since using the sonic tooth brush and I find that the build up of plaque is less. It will not replace flossing and I have found using the original dental tape by Glide helpful as it is thicker than some of the thinner floss on the market now.

The Sonicare Elite is a new kid on the block and it isn’t always easy to know the difference between the various models such as the 7300. 7500 and 7800 toothbrushes. The 7800 allows you to change the pre-programmed 2 minute brushing time to 2 1/2 minutes which may be useful for some. It also comes with a wall mount kit. In addition there is a dual speed control . The 7500 doesn’t have the timer change option and the 7300 does not have the above features but is a fine toothbrush.

Because I travel frequently I am pleased that the battery lasts longer than original model because I don’t like to travel with a charger. I find it will last around two weeks. I also like that there is a slimmer head and that the angled brush enables me to get comfortably to the back teeth. Most people neglect the molar areas but this is where many have problems with pockets due to inadequate cleaning techniques. It is also important to replace the head every six months and I find that after six months the cleanings are not as good if you do not.

My only criticism is that if you don’t unscrew and clean out the brush of the sonic tooth brush it will get dirty on the inside. In terms of bacteria I think that is important to do and it does not seem as watertight as it could be. However, this inconvenience far outweights the benefits as I’ve always dreaded my dental cleanings and if I can prevent future root canals or cavities it is a great financial savings.

Tips for Choosing a Cosmetic Dentist in Denver

Tips for Choosing a Cosmetic Dentist in Denver

A lot of people are now interested in cosmetic dentistry. If you are in the market for a cosmetic dentist in Denver, there are a few things to look for and to consider. An increasing number of both men and women are in the market to have what is sometimes known as a dental makeover. Just as with choosing any dentist – or doctor for that matter – you need to take care when choosing one to suit your cosmetic needs. Whether you want teeth whitening, caps, veneers, et cetera, you want to make sure to choose someone qualified to do the job.

The first step in finding a good cosmetic dentist is to ask around. Talk to members of your family, friends, neighbors, and the people with whom you work. So many people are having cosmetic procedures done on their teeth these days that it is a sure bet that someone will have a good recommendation. Make sure the people you ask are honest; then you will have some names to put on your list. On the subject of a list, remember it is always better to talk to more than one potential dentist before making your final choice.

There is also a wealth of helpful information available online; it makes a great resource. If you are looking for a good cosmetic dentist in Denver, then you can use a number of local resources as well. There are many sites with an index of local dentists, cosmetic and otherwise. Many of these sites even allow patients to leave ratings, so you can have a pretty fair indication of whether a particular dentist is good or not. This also allows you to compare dentists, which can be extremely helpful. That way you can also make sure you are getting a good deal.

As briefly mentioned, it is also important to see possible cosmetic dentists face to face. Perhaps just as importantly, it is necessary to see their offices. To that end, you need to make sure that it looks like a clean, safe, and healthy environment. You can also evaluate and interface with the staff, playing close attention to whether or not they are friendly and whether or not they are happy to answer any questions posed to them. You also need to make sure that you have good rapport with any potential dentist. You are going to be in close contact for a long time, after all. If you do not get along with the dentist or his or her staff, then you are not going to have a pleasurable experience.

It is also important to make sure a potential cosmetic dentist in Denver has experience in the cosmetic procedures in which you are most interested. Ask about his or her qualifications, even about where he or she went to school and received training. Questions of this nature are standard so do not be afraid to ask them. It is also standard to inquire about pricing and fees, and to know if the office accepts your dental insurance.

3 Best Tips for Proper Hand Washing Among Medical Professionals

3 Best Tips for Proper Hand Washing Among Medical Professionals

“Cleanliness is next to godliness.” The origin of this expression is unclear, though it could have originated from ancient Hebrew or Egyptian writings. The first English version seems to have originated from Francis Bacon. In any case, the meaning of the expression is clear: keeping your body clean is vital.

Cleanliness is important in any workplace; however, it is crucial in certain occupations. For instance, cleanliness is a top priority in the medical industry. Bacteria can become a life and death issue. Fortunately, the personnel can use a wide variety of methods, including the wearing of scrubs, such as cheap landau scrubs. Keeping your hands clean as a bean is another method to prevent the transferring of bacteria. Here are some tips for effective hand washing:

1. Understand the importance of hand washing

According to some experts, washing our hands is the most effective way to prevent diseases from spreading. That is due to the link between bacteria and diseases. Diseases spread when we contact fluids from people’s bodies. For instance, consider someone with the common cold. After blowing his nose, he could inadvertently place mucous on a doorknob. The virus can survive there for a while, and thus be transmitted to another person who touches the doorknob. By simply washing our hands frequently and being conscientious about what we touch, we can reduce the transmission of bacteria.

In addition to the common cold, failing to wash your hands throughout the day, can increase the likelihood of transmitting numerous infections, including the common cold, digestive viruses, flu, hepatitis A, and skin infections.

2. Wash at the proper time

How often should you wash your hands? Experts recommend that people wash them at least 10 times daily. However, those in the medical profession should wash them even more frequently. For instance, here are some activities after which you should scrub away:

- before you eat
- after you eat
- before touching your nose, mouth, or eyes
- after contacting fluids from bodies
- after contacting items that have contacted fluids from bodies
- after using the restroom

You might be shocked at how infrequently people wash their hands. After using the restroom, only about two-thirds of Americans wash their hands!

3. Wash your hands by using the proper technique

Washing your hands properly does not involve rinsing your hands quickly. Instead, you should use certain techniques. Use warm, soapy water and wash them for roughly 15-30 seconds. If you do not feel like using a stopwatch, wash your hands while singing the “ABC song.” Then rinse your hands thoroughly. Experts have determined that the length of time you wash your hands, is much more important than the type of soap that you use (i.e. antibacterial soap).

Remember that bacteria exist even when we cannot see them. If you are in the medical field, wash your hands at the right time, and in the right way. Your increased contact with humans increases the chance of bacteria transmission. If you wear a scrub, then make sure to scrub!
